Calcium Alginate Dressing
Sorbsan® Topical Wound Dressing is a sterile,
non-woven pad composed of fibers prepared from calcium alginate, a
cellulose-like polysaccharide. The surface of Sorbsan®,
in immediate contact with wound exudate, forms a soft hydrocolloid gel. This
gel maintains a physiologically moist microenvironment at the wound surface
that is conductive to granulation tissue formation, rapid epithelialization and
healing.
Sorbsan® should not be used on third degree burns or on
individuals with a known sensitivity to alginates.
