Unit Dose
Hospitals and long term care providers nationwide know UDL as the nation's largest supplier of unit dose pharmaceuticals. In fact, we offer more generic pharmaceuticals in unit dose form than any other single company and we rank #1 among both branded and generic companies in the number of oral solid prescription doses dispensed in the institutional market.*
Unit dose administration offers significant benefits to healthcare providers, including reduced professional handling, reduced chance of administration error and improved inventory control. UDL's commitment to helping our customers improve patient safety and the 5 Rights of Medication Administration (Right Patient, Right Drug, Right Dose, Right Route of Administration, Right Time) has led us to make bar coding a priority in all of our product labeling. We are proud of the fact that we were the first in the industry to apply machine readable linear bar codes to each dose we package.
But we haven't stopped at simply making more drug therapies available in unit dose form. To ease the problems of dispensing controlled drugs, we developed our Control-A-Dose reverse numbered system to aid in monitoring inventory. Our 20-count cards make control and accountability of controlled drug dispensing easier to manage, and by having 5 cards in a box, it allows the pharmacy department to stock more nursing stations from one unit carton.
