Robot-Rx™* Ready

On November 20, 1995, UDL, one of the nation's largest suppliers of multisource unit dose pharmaceuticals to the institutional marketplace, introduced a new industry standard packaging design for the Robot-Rx, the automated pharmacy dispensing station developed by McKesson Automation Inc.

The automated station incorporates UDL's fully integrated bar coding program at every level of hospital unit dose handling--from shipping cases to unit dose blisters. Operating in a unit dose environment, the bar codes allow the Robot-Rx to dispense, check, credit, restock and control inventory for over 95% of current hospital formularies without significant changes in departmental operating procedures. Bar code technology is an efficient and effective way to link patient medication orders with the act of dispensing.

UDL is, and always has been, committed to the Robot-Rx Ready product line. Through this commitment, we will continue to identify high volume, new generic products that have an application for automated dispensing.

In addition to new products, we are looking into opportunities for increasing efficiencies and throughput that can be obtained through packing enhancements that should increase the availability of Robot-Rx Ready drugs.

Robot-Rx, combined with UDL's Robot-Rx Ready package, enables hospitals to reduce medication errors and achieve cost savings in technical, labor and inventory management.
